چکیده

The numerical simulation of complex flows demands efficient algorithms and fast computer platforms. The use of adaptive techniques permits adjusting the discretisation according to the analysis requirements, but creates variable computational loads which are difficult to manage in a parallel / vector program. This paper describes the approach we have adopted to implement an adaptive finite element incompressible Navier-Stokes solver on the Cray J98 machine. Performance measurements for the simulation of cross flow past a tube bank indicate that the techniques employed result in a fast parallel / vector code.

Optimization of die geometry for tube channel pressing

Since tubes have numerous industrial applications, different attempts are focused on the severe plastic deformation processes of tubes. As an illustration, tube channel pressing (TCP) is an attractive process for this purpose since it can be used for processing of different sizes of tubes. However, more attempts are needed to improve the outcomes of TCP. For example, imposing of a greater strai...

Scientific Flow Field Simulation of Cruciform Missiles Through the Thin Layer Navier Stokes Equations

The thin-layer Navier-Stokes equations are solved for two complete missile configurations on an IBM 3090-200 vectro-facility supercomputer. The conservation form of the three-dimensional equations, written in generalized coordinates, are finite differenced and solved on a body-fitted curvilinear grid system developed in conjunction with the flowfield solver. The numerical procedure is based on ...

Loading Path Determination for Tube Hydroforming Process of Automotive Component Using APDL

In this study, an extended stress-based forming limit diagram (FLD) for prediction of necking based on the Marciniak and Kucznski (M-K) model is represented and applied in tube hydroforming. The bulge forming of a straight tube is simulated by finite element method and verified with published experimental data. This adaptive simulation technique is based on the ability to detect the onset an...

High Reynolds Viscous Flow Simulation Past the Elliptical Airfoil by Random Vortex Blob

In this paper, numerical simulation for a two-dimensional viscous and incompressible flow past the elliptical airfoil is presented by Random Vortex Blob (RVB). RVB is a numerical technique to solve the incompressible, two-dimensional and unsteady Navier-Stocks equations by converting them to rotational non-primitive formulations. In this method, the velocity vector at a certain point can be cal...
